In Between IV
It was asked to me to try to depict the Silence of HCV, so insidious illness… and it came to my mind a friend that I name with a serie of numbers which was given to him for a one year worldwide experimental medical therapy he did finish at the end of year 2012… a short friend conversation we had in between.
From 0232-00007 I try to understand what living with HCV for 22 years did mean for him apart from the huge amount of letters and numbers in between…
While he looks through 2012 text results he talks about HCV RNA quantitative going from 5/6 millions to 61…
then less than 12 and zero in following texts…
00007 is absorbed while he touches the papers and he says:
“The fact is that it is absolutely silent and bastard because you dont feel it and it keeps on working and harden you with your liver…
if it is not so aggressive and if you periodically check it and you take care of food and quotidian comportament you can live with for years…
but… you have to face with, sooner or later…”
He went on about therapy… ”First months food taste is metal mixed with soap…
as you do any phisical or mental effort you can suffer from headache and heaviness and you scratch your skin in different parts because of the deep itching you feel…”
he keeps on looking his eyes up from the papers “… Every aspect of life and my flaws did weight more more…” smiled…
00007 is a friend of mine and he doesn’t like get in pictures and he did me a favour to be fastly interviewed and recorded while talking of this disease…
I cant understand what 22 years meant for him thinking and not thinking about it…
“… Anxiety and asteriscs, counting pills and if needle goes on the right or on the left…
I feel myself very light now and it looks like I see and take everyday with a different light…
even if it is too early to say cause I’ve just finished the therapy… but… I can say this…”
I’m thinking that 22 years influenced his head and difference between now and then will slowly open up and will be clearer to him…
at the moment I look at him saying, looking through the sheets of paper… his eyes and stomach lightened…“
… I dont know… it is something I keep in my heart for me and my Dears…”
